SPLC stands for Southern Poverty Law Center, a left wing fascist organization based in Birmingham, Alabama. The SPLC is intolerant of the right and thier hatred even extends to anarchist like me.
"Duncan Philp, Fort Collins, Colorado, Founder of the Colorado Patriots Militia, Philp was a member of Pete Peters, Identity La Porte Church of Christ" ( False Patriots magazine p 54, 1996 Southern Poverty Law Center)
And now notice how the SPLC continues to twist the lie even further.
"In Colorado, Duncan Philp, who was closely aligned with Pete Peters, and formed the White Patriot Militia in Ft. Collins," (Gathering Strom; Americas Militia Threat p 90, 1996 Morris Dees)
Wow I went from being a being a freedom loving libertarian to being the very founder of a white revolutionary movement and I didn't even knew about it. Here is an interesting quote about and from Morris Dees the director of the SPLC.
"Although his name appears on the inside cover of 'False Patriots' manual, Dees was quick to distance himself when told that a business owned by a Jew, with no patriot links, was listed as a patriot group." (Wayne Laugesen Boulder Weekly pg 23, May 2nd, 1996)
"I don't have anything to do with that book," Dees said, You'd have to talk to Joe Roy (director of Klanwatch) about that." (Wayne Laugesen Boulder Weekly pg 23, May 2nd, 1996)
The owner of the gun shop in question was Bob Glass, a good friend of mine who also happens to be Jewish. His gun shop was located in downtown Longmont, CO and was called Paladin Arms. Bob is a real close friend of Col. Bob Brown, who of course is the owner of the magazine Soldier of Fortune and at one time he was on the Board of Directors for the NRA. This is probably why the ever incredible SPLC went after Bob Glass.
Here is yet another news clip about me.
"Participants help to keep the Dream alive."
"Duncan Philp, the Rev. David Williams and Aswad Allen joined arms Saturday evening to lead a march from Ammons Hall to the Abyssinian church for a memorial service to honor Martin Luther King Jr." (Michelle Doyle, Rocky Mountain Collegian, front page with a color picture of myself and the other two men, 1/29/90)
Do white racists march for the equality of all races on Martin Luther King Day?
Shazaam and looks like the SPLC lied. I had at the time consulted with a Denver attorney, by the name of Arthur Schwartz, to see him about suing Dees for slander. Although he stated that I had a case I probably couldn't afford to hire him as I was an unemployed student attending CSU at the time.
The ADL issued a similar report way back in 1994.
"Militias, calling themselves Patriots, are being formed across the state and are currently operating in Lakewood, Longmont, Boulder, Greeley and Fort Collins. The Fort Collins group is led by Duncan Philp, who has been a member of Pete Peters' LaPorte Church of Christ. a racist and anti-Semitic church that embraces the ideology of the Christian Identity movement."
The ADL offers the reader no dates, references or source for this incredible bit of information. I have never been a member of any militia nor have I ever been a member of the Laporte Church of Christ. All one has to do is call Pete Peters, the anti-Semitic preacher with the Laporte Church of Christ, and ask him if I have ever been a member of his church.
Here is quote from the neo-nazi himself in regards to my so-called membership to his church.
"Dear Mr. Giombetti, Please be advised that Mr. Duncan's reports about my theology simply is not true. .... No need to communicate further for I don't concern myself with papers like yours." - Pete Peters (Mercury, Vol.1 No. 2, page 10, October 1999)
Gosh you would think that if I where in fact a member of Peter's church then why would he accuse me of lying about his church?
Even the ADL sent me a letter of apology and backed off their cliam that I was a member of this church.
"We understand your concerns and have taken steps to insure that this statement in the report will be amended in all future printings" - Jill Kahn Meltzer, Legal Affairs Director for the ADL in New York City. Dated December 12, 1994.

This was taken off of the Nikor's website.
"Militias in Colorado have benefitted from the support of a number of right-wing groups. Most active in the movement are so-called Patriot groups that proliferate throughout the state. Others showing support for militias in Colorado are the Constitutionists. the Guardians of American Liberties (GOAL). and state representative Charles Duke."
Charles Duke is not related to the neo-nazi Duke of Louisiana fame and holds no anti-semetic views, but notice the implications. This is how the ADL twist their **** in an attempt to silence any conservative voice.
The ADL never bothers to site a source for this crap nor do they even bother to post any dates. I never led any group I merely facilitated meetings in which we discussed the Waco holocaust and the murder of the Weaver family. You will see the pattern before I am finished.
When was I member of this church?
Where I have ever posted or written that I was a member of this church?
Show me the church records which state that I ever joined this church. Call the pastor of this church and ask him if I have ever been a member. The churches phone number is in the Ft. Collins book.
"The Patriots propaganda promotes the view that the federal government has betrayed the people and the Constitution through laws regarding home-schooling, abortion, taxation, freedom of speech and religion, and, most importantly, gun control. While calling on citizens to take political action (e.g., write their Congressmen, attend meetings, etc.), they also urge that people prepare to resist the government by forming militias and stockpiling weapons, groceries and other necessities for survival."
God forbid that we should redress the state and write letters to scumbag polticians. God forbid that we should be allowed to home school our own children. So who are the real fascists in all of this?
"The Patriots publish a newsletter and sell tapes and videos through "The Patriot Library." Among the titles for sale are "The New World Order, Communist groups supported by Hillary Clinton." as well as tapes describing black helicopters said to be scrutinizing the actions of citizens in the western states. A June 22, 1994 "Patriot Factsheet" encouraged members to read, by computer access, The Spotlight, the organ of the anti-Semitic Liberty Lobby."
I never heard of the Liberty Lobby. But we all know that Hillary is in fact a Communist.
"The Constitutionists. a Kansas-based extremist group whose leadership includes Evan Mecham, the impeached former governor of Arizona, has received support in its promotion of militias from Colorado State representative Charles Duke. Duke spoke at the group's June conference in Indianapolis and promoted the formation of militias as an effective way for citizens to protect themselves from the government. At a Patriots meeting last July, Duke said: "We need some ability to get some firepower to protect the citizens. I would like to see a militia...[the type] that functions as a sheriff's posse and has sufficient training.""
Duke was one of the moderators at the Ruby Ridge fiasco, but notice how they twist it.
"Radio station KHNC in Johnstown has offered its facilities to the Patriots and other groups active in the militia movement. KHNC broadcasts continuous Patriot programs and talk on "conservative issues." Among regulars on the station are Bo Gritz (see Idaho section of this report) and Dr. Norm Resnick, an outspoken opponent of gun control. In addition to using the radio to air their views. Colorado militias also disseminate information on computer bulletin boards that reach readers across the country. The Colorado Free Militia and Boulder Patriots, for example, are promoted on the New Age Electronic Information Service, a Colorado bulletin board."'
Reznick was an orthodox Jew until his death and the owner of KHNC Don Wiedeman is a messianic Jew. Funny how the ADL ingnored these little facts.

Help Jews For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) tell the truth about how the Anti-Defamation League lies about Militias, law abiding firearms owners and Judaism.
Please help distribute the following FACT SHEET! -- PEOPLE MUST KNOW THE TRUTH!
1. ADL LIE: Militias threaten you.
JPFO FACT: The ADL reports on militias offer virtually no facts -- hard evidence, documentation -- to support the ADL's allegations that militias threaten public order. Why are the ADL's reports nearly empty of references to newspaper articles with verifiable specifics as to date, place, time, participants, etc.? The ADL's reports suggest that a tiny minority of militias is run by neo-Nazis, racists, or other bigots. Why should the doings of a tiny, nasty minority be a reason to condemn the vast majority of decent, law-abiding militia-members?
2. ADL LIE: "Gun control" makes you safer, at the cost of "minor" inconvenience, e.g., permits, waiting periods, registration bans on, and confiscation of, some firearms and magazines.
JPFO FACT: The down-side to "gun control" is genocide, and mortal peril to those in the U.S. armed services, who have recently been deployed overseas thanks to "gun control".
In this century there have been at least seven major genocides in which at least 56,000,000 persons, including millions of children, have been murdered by officials of governments "gone bad". The seven cases are:
3. 1915 - 1917 Ottoman Turkey, 1.5 million Armenians murdered; 4. 1929 - 1953 Soviet Union, 20 million people that opposed Stalin were murdered; 5. 1933 - 1945 Nazi occupied Europe, 13 million Jews Gypsies and others that opposed Hitler were murdered; 6. 1948 - 1952 China, 20 million anti communists; 7. 1960 - 1981 Guatemala, 100,000 Mayan Indians Murdered; 8. 1971 - 1979 Uganda, 300,000 Christians and Political Rivals of Idi Amin murdered; 9. 1975 - 1979 Cambodia, 1 million educated persons murdered.
TOTAL VICTIMS: 56 MILLION!
In every case, there was on the books before the murdering began, at least one "gun control" law, sometimes the last of a series. In five of the seven cases, "gun control" was first enacted by a regime that came before the genocide regime -- sometimes decades before.
Most genocides unfold without outside intervention, except after the fact. For example, during World War II, the U.S. government absolutely refused to bomb the rail lines leading to the Nazis' main murder camp, Auschwitz, in Poland. Had that been done many lives might have been saved.
The ADL's strategy -- of watching hate groups and urging ever-more severe" gun control" -- has a lethal flaw. If vigilance fails, and if a hate group seized control of the U.S. government, prior enforcement of "gun control" will ensure the hate groupies can easily pile up mountains of corpses.
Those who say, "It couldn't happen here...we would never do that ... ", are quite wrong. The U.S. government took all but the last step of a major genocide just over 50 years ago. On 19 February 1942, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed Executive Order No. 9066. Under that order, some 125,000 Japanese-Americans -- 70% of whom were U.S. citizens -- were forced to leave homes and businesses on the west coast of the U.S. and were sent to places that the New York Times of that era called "concentration camps". That Executive Order was affirmed by Congress in the form of a public law at end-March 1942. The Supreme Court ultimately concurred that these deportations were legal (Korematsu v. U.S., 1944).
U.S. armed forces have recently gone to Haiti ("Gun Control"Law, 22 Dec 1922, amended 1 Oct 1980), and to Bosnia (ex-Yugoslavia "GunControl" Law, 17 Sep 1964) to try to rescue people made helpless thanks to "gun control". Had we simply shipped rifles to the Haitians, they likely could have freed themselves from their murderous government. U.S. troops may be needed to rescue the Bosnian Muslims, because an arms embargo keeps them from defending themselves against Bosnian Serb "ethnic cleansing". Why does the ADL back a policy, "gun control", that forces U.S. soldiers, sailors, marines, and flyers to go in harm's way?
10. ADL LIE: Judaism and "gun control" go together.
JPFO TRUTH: "Gun control" violates and subverts Jewish Law. The sanctity of life is a core Jewish value. By promoting genocide, "gun control" poses a clear and present danger to the lives of decent people, everywhere.
Life is so precious that under Jewish law, there are only three things a Jew may NOT do to save his/her own life:
* a) commit murder (willfully take an innocent life); * b) bow down to idols; * c) engage in prohibited forms of sexual activity.
Thus, a Jew threatened with death unless he eats pork (prohibited toJews), must eat the pork, if doing so will save his life.
From the sanctity of Life comes an imperative to safeguard Life. Thus, it is written in the Talmud -- the 70-volume Code of Jewish Law -in at least three places, "And the Torah says, 'If someone comes to kill you, arise quickly and kill him.'" The Torah is the Five Books of Moses; this injunction is rooted in Exodus, Chapter 22, Verse 1. This injunction occurs twice in the section of the Talmud dealing with Blessings (TractateB'rachos), on pages 58A and 62B. It also is found in the section of theTalmud dealing with Administration of Justice (Tractate Sanhedrin) page 72A. The contexts are all different, but the message is consistent: forJews, self-defense is an individual duty. As nothing in the Five Books of Moses, or the Talmud, is ever repeated without a reason, that this injunction is three times repeated suggests it is a powerful injunction, indeed.
History shows clearly that the biggest murderer -- of Jews and of other minorities (ethnic, political, linguistic, etc.) -- has NOT been hate groups, but governments that have "gone bad". To varying degrees, these murders of Jews occurred because Jews neglected to learn and to practice our religion's teachings which mandate self-defense. We have paid a ferocious price for this neglect. Millions of lives will be saved if Jewish law on self-defense is faithfully followed.
11. ADL LIE: JPFO is a danger to Jews. The ADL lies about JPFO's mission and research (See letter by Abraham Foxman, ADL National Director, to the Editor of the New York Times, 21 May 1995). The ADL says it fights anti-Semitism and neo-Nazis.
JPFO TRUTH: The ADL dismisses JPFO research that shows the U.S. Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA '68) likely is based on the Nazi Weapons Law of 18 March 1938. Nazi laws have no place in America. Yet, the ADL backs GCA'68 and advocates further restrictions on firearms-ownership by the law-abiding.
JPFO has a new bumper sticker called ADL LIES. We would like to get 1 MILLION or more of these on firearms owners automobiles, campers and homes. The sticker is white with red, blue and black letters. It is 4 and1/4 inches high X 14 inches wide. Large enough for the ADL to see from their headquarters at the United Nations Plaza, New York.

ADL loses $10.5 million defamation suit CHRIS LEPPEK Intermountain Jewish News DENVER - A federal jury has awarded a Colorado couple $10.5 million in their defamation lawsuit against the Colorado chapter of the Anti-Defamation League.
The 12-member jury in U.S. District Court sided with plaintiffs William and Dorothy Quigley of Evergreen, in their defamation lawsuit against the Denver-based Mountain States chapter and its area director, Saul Rosenthal.
The jury on April 28 awarded the Quigleys damages, mostly punitive, of $10.5 million, a figure that astonished defendants and plaintiffs alike in the drawn-out and complex case that began with disputes over dog fights and stolen ornamental plants.
The jury found that several statements made in 1994 by Rosenthal on behalf of the ADL in a press conference and other public statements defamed the Quigleys and resulted in actual and punitive damages.
Rosenthal said the ADL would appeal the decision.
We were shocked and very surprised at the result," Rosenthal said, adding, "I think the overall reaction, within ADL, and from what I'm hearing, in the community, is complete disbelief that this kind of result has taken place."
In Phoenix, outgoing regional board chairman Marc Lieberman said he was outraged by the jury's decision.
"I think it's reprehensible," Lieberman said of the verdict and award. He also suggested the case "would chill advocacy groups."
Denver attorney Jay Horowitz, who represented the Quigleys in the trial, said his clients were gratified at the outcome of the litigation.
"We did not expect a verdict of this size," Horowitz admitted, "although we had the view that if an impartial jury could hear all of the evidence concerning this dispute, the verdict could have been much larger" (than the one actually awarded).
The dispute began in late 1994 when the Quigleys, residents of Jefferson County near Evergreen, were accused by their Jewish neighbors, Mitchell and Candace Aronson, of plotting against their family for reasons of anti-Semitism.
The dispute apparently began over fights between their dogs and allegations of stolen ornamental plants. It intensified into an incident in which Candace Aronson believed that William Quigley intended to run over her with his car.
As the dispute grew more heated, the Aronsons began listening to cordless telephone conversations of the Quigleys which they managed to overhear with a police scanner, and later recorded.
After consulting with the ADL, the Aronsons later told area media of overhearing their neighbors tell crude anti-Semitic jokes and make comments which the Aronsons took to be threats against their family. The Quigleys denied that the threats were ever meant to be serious.
Rosenthal's comments about the Quigleys, made on behalf of the Aronsons after the Denver ADL agreed to state their case publicly, formed the basis of the Quigleys' defamation lawsuit.
Basing their charges on hundreds of hours of recorded telephone conversations of the Quigleys, the Aronsons, and later the ADL, related often-lurid stories of what some believed were ethnic slurs and potential threats.
Some of the comments, repeated over and over in numerous media accounts, shocked members of the Colorado Jewish community. According to transcripts of the tapes, the Quigleys refer to attaching images of oven doors to the Aronsons' house, of burning their children, of wishing their Jewish neighbors had been blown up in a terrorist attack in Israel.
Over the next five years, the case would become a labyrinth of criminal charges filed and later withdrawn, civil lawsuits and counter suits.
Jewish News Senior Editor Chris Garifo contributed to this report.

ADL payout finally lays 9-year-old lawsuit to rest
ALEZA GOLDSMITH
Bulletin Staff
The Anti-Defamation League this week settled a 9-year-old civil suit against the agency, agreeing to pay three remaining plaintiffs $178,000.
The suit, originally filed in 1993 by 19 plaintiffs, had accused the ADL of illegally obtaining and disseminating the private records of these individuals for the purpose of blacklisting them.
Although the ADL decided to settle, it continues to deny all allegations of wrongdoing; after nine years, however, the organization felt that enough was enough.
"We just decided it was time to get past this and move on," said ADL attorney David Goldstein. "Otherwise, there could very well be many more years of litigation."
ADL Executive Director Jonathan Bernstein, who leads the agency's Central Pacific Region, agreed, adding that he is "pleased that this is almost behind us now."
The plaintiffs' attorney, former U.S. Rep. Pete McCloskey, could not be reached for comment.
As of press time Wednesday, the parties were still awaiting word from the state court of appeals on requests to dismiss the case.
Both sides had filed appeals in July when a San Francisco Superior Court judge dismissed plaintiffs Anne Poirier and Steven Zeltzer, but not Jefferey Blankfort, who claimed the ADL obtained his Social Security number "for non-journalistic purposes." Because the settlement took place before the appeals came though, the ADL agreed to compensate all three.
Though the ADL would have preferred to have had all the plaintiffs dismissed in July, Goldstein said the case's nine years of litigation did help establish "some important principles" about the agency.
In 1998, for instance, the California 1st District Court of Appeals determined that the ADL could be defined as a journalistic organization, and as such keep confidential any information gathered for journalistic purposes.
Fourteen of the 19 original plaintiffs (two of whom are deceased) subsequently dropped their cases.
The lawsuit was originally filed after police raids on San Francisco and Los Angeles ADL offices in 1992. During those raids, confidential files revealing the names of individuals in activist groups being monitored by the ADL were confiscated.
But as a journalistic organization publishing many pamphlets, bulletins and journals, according to Bernstein, it is not out of the ordinary or illegal for the ADL to maintain that type of information, which is used to assist the agency in the prevention of hate crimes.
"It's something we have done since we were founded in 1913," he said. "It's a proactive way to deal with hatred before it explodes into an incident."
In 1985, for example, the ADL supplied the San Francisco Police Department with information that helped convict Coy Ray Phelps, who was charged with placing bombs at several Jewish and non-Jewish sites.
"Time and time again ADL's background information on extremists has thwarted their agendas through successful prosecution or the outcry of the community," said Bernstein.
The need for this type of investigative activity and "keeping of files" is underscored by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, said Goldstein. "Now more people are understanding of the importance" of monitoring possible extremists and "keeping a reservoir of information on them."
Following the 1992 raids, however, San Francisco's then-District Attorney Arlo Smith considered bringing indictments against the ADL for alleged spy activities. One ADL investigator, Roy Bullock, was accused of illegally obtaining information on political organizations and individuals from a former San Francisco police inspector, Tom Gerard.
The ADL settled that civil suit in November 1993. Neither the agency nor Bullock admitted wrongdoing or faced any criminal charges, but the ADL did have to agree to certain conditions:
*To refrain from obtaining confidential and prohibited information from police.
*To set up a San Francisco reward fund of up to $50,000 for hate crimes.
*To pay up to $25,000 in training costs for a public school program designed to teach students about hate crimes.
Gerard was charged with five felony counts of stealing confidential state documents but pleaded guilty to a lesser count of illegally accessing a computer. He was sentenced to three years probation, a $25,000 fine and a 45-day jail sentence that was to be spent, instead, on a sheriff's work detail.

I emailed a nasty to the Center for Policy Research, located at Syaracuse University in New York State, which was also spreading the lie about me that they had gotten from the Dees book. A prof responded in very timely fashion. Subject: Web page Date: Fri, 5 Sep 2003 14:46:09 -0400 From: "Mark Rupert" <merupert@maxwell.syr.edu> | This is spam | Add to Address Book To: zapata105@yahoo.com CC: "Michael Wasylenko" <mjwasyle@maxwell.syr.edu> Dear Mr. Philip, Please note that the page to which you object did nor originate here, but simply reproduced the 1995 Congressional testimony of Ms. Loretta Ross of the Center for Democratic Renewal, and that her remarks to Congress are a matter of public record. However since you have raised doubts about the accuracy of at least one of the claims she made in that testimony, I have removed the page in question from the Maxwell School server and noted that its accuracy is in question, as you will see below: www.maxwell.syr.edu/maxpages...DR_militias.htm and this was my response back Your page is linked to the page for the Center for Democratic Renewal and of course you can see from the link header the clear indication that it eminates from your University. That one sentence is taken directly from the Book titled "Gathering Storm; America's Miltia Threat" page 90 and was written by the incredible Morris Dees. It is beyond me why anyone from acadameia would use that clown as a source of information. You will notice that Dees never sites any references for his claims. That one little sentence cost me alot of pesecution while I atteneded CSU by the CSU police and the administration. I have had belly full of that kind of crap. My prof conselor at CSU was Dr. Brad McDonald a polisci prof who teaches political philosophy and if anyone wants to know if I'm aryan airhead or not then they can just ask him along with the entire polisci department of CSU. Here is a quote from and about Dees printed in the Boulder Weekley. Although his name appears on the inside cover of False Patriots manual, Dees was quick to distance himself when told that a business owned by a Jew, with no patriot links, was listed as a patriot group. I dont have anything to do with that book, Dees said, Youd have to talk to Joe Roy (director of Klanwatch) about that. (Wayne Laugesen Boulder Weekly pg 23, May 2nd, 1996) And that Jews name is Bob Glass who also happens to be a friend of mine. I don't raise any doubts about Ross's cliams as say. I'm flat out calling the woman a liar. I was never a member of that church and I never founded anything called a 'white patriot miltia' and no such thing ever existed in the entire state of Colorado much less in Ft. Collins. An Open Letter To Morris Dees By David Horowitz FrontPageMagazine.com | September 2, 2003
Dear Morris Dees,
Youve made yourself a national reputation as a fighter against hate groups. Recently, however, you released a report called Into the Mainstream by a leftwing conspiracy theorist named Chip Berlet, which purports to show how right wing foundations and think tanks support efforts to make bigoted and discredited ideas respectable. This report is so tendentious, so filled with transparent misrepresentations and smears that if you continue to post the report you will create for your Southern Poverty Law Center a well-earned reputation as a hate group itself.
I will deal only with the single paragraph, which devotes to the Center for the Study of Popular Culture but which in his estimation and apparently yours is enough to damn it as a Center for bigots. Berlets indictment of the Center an organization with a proud history in fighting for equal rights for all American citizens is based on three mangled statements taken from an ad opposing reparations for slavery 137 years after the fact. This ad was itself excerpted from an article written for the liberal/left magazine Salon.com (which I notice is not included in Berlets list of respectable bigots).
Here is the complete Berlet list of charges:
1. Although [Horowitz] makes much of his past working for civil rights for blacks and others, he more recently has blamed slavery on black Africans abetted by dark-skinned Arabs. Both statements are lies. The first implies that I once worked for civil rights and dont any longer. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I have a public record (ignored by Berlet) to prove it. Second, I never in my life blamed slavery on black Africans abetted by dark-skinned Arabs. What idiot would not know that white Europeans conducted the Atlantic Slave Trade, which trafficked in 11 million black African chattel? The sentence Berlet mangles is not a historical statement about slavery but a polemical response to the proponents of reparations who are demanding that only whites pay blacks for an institution slavery that has been eradicated in the western world (but not Arab and black Africa) for more than 100 years. It is intended to remind people that the slaves transported to America were bought from African and Arab slavers not to blame Africans and Arabs for sole responsibility for slavery. Berlet is fully aware of this and his slander is just that a calculated lie to taint the Center and my work.
2. [Horowitz] also claims that there never was an anti-slavery movement until white Christians Englishmen and Americans created one. That, of course, is false. Critics note that Horowitz is ignoring everything from the slave revolt led by Spartacus against the Romans and Moses rebellion against the Pharaoh to the role of American blacks in the abolition movement. I have answered this mis-reading of my ad in the book I wrote about my campaign (Uncivil Wars: The Controversy About Slavery, Encounter 2001), which was available to Berlet at the time he wrote this smear. I will quote from my book (page 58):
For thousands of years, until the end of the Eighteenth Century, slavery had been considered a normal institution of human societies. In all that time, no group had arisen to challenge its legitimacy. Of course, there were many slave revolts from the times of Moses and Spartacus, in which those who had been enslaved sought to gain their freedom. But that was not the point. The freedom they had sought was their own. They did not revolt against the institution of slavery as such. What had happened in the English-speaking countries at the dawn of the American Republican was entirely unique. Before then, no one had thought to form a movement dedicated to the belief that the institution of slavery was itself immoral. What was important in this historical fact was that it showed that white Europeans who were the target of the reparations indictment had played a pivotal role in the emancipation from slavery.
3. [Horowitz] has attacked minority demands for special treatment as only necessary because some blacks cant seem to locate the ladder of opportunity within reach of others, rejecting the idea that they could be the victims of lingering racism. Unlike the previous charge, this last item in Berlets indictment cannot be even charitably regarded as a misunderstanding of my text. It is again a calculated and carefully constructed lie. My text is quite clear (again I will refer to the Salon article).
The passage in which these snippets occur is about the way the reparations claim will create resentment and hostility between African-Americans and other minority groups. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether there is lingering racism or not. It doesnt even have to do with my own opinions, but with the opinions of these other minority groups.
To wit: As America enters the 21st Century, it is more than ever a nation of immigrants and increasingly a nation of immigrants of color. Virtually every group that has come to seek refuge and opportunity in America has its own grievances to remember. For millions of immigrants, the suffering is recent, and can be as serious as ethnic cleansing or genocide. What attitude are these people going to have to the payment claims from African-Americans, whose slavery experience lies in the distant past and was not the actual experience of any blacks alive today? Wont the demand for reparations be seen as just another claim for special treatment, for an extravagant new handout? Even if the experience of segregation (now nearly fifty years old) is added to slavery, wont these immigrant communities Hispanic, Indian, Asian regard this as a crutch made necessary only because some blacks cant seem to locate the ladder of opportunity within reach of others (many of whom are even less privileged than themselves)
And that is the entire evidence for Berlets indictment of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture as an organization to make bigotry respectable. Shame on you Morris Dees for propagating this filth. An apology would be nice, but taking Berlets entire report off your website and notifying your thousands of supporters would be better.
Sincerely,
David Horowitz

hate crime hoaxes www.issues-views.com/index.p...0/article/21009Hate crime hoaxes This wasn't supposed to happen here [Reprinted from Issues & Views September 10, 2001] The most outrageous feature of "hate crime" laws, that have been passed in several states and municipalities, is the implication that members of particular groups are more important when it comes to legal redress than other citizens. Another rarely mentioned feature is the temptation that such laws offer to the devious to invent "crimes" that never happened. The most recently reported case took place in Linden, Texas, in August, where a black woman claimed that two white men jumped her on the street, beat her, robbed her, and carved the letters "KKK" into her chest. As reported by the Arizona Republic, investigators of the Cass County sheriff's office found so many inconsistencies in the woman's story that she finally admitted fabricating it. (Shades of Tawana Brawley.) In recent years, there have been many such concocted and embellished tales. Laird Wilcox was the first to systematically recount such hoaxes, which often have different motives attached. He maintains that the media often limits its coverage of falsified "hate crimes." Following is an excerpt from Wilcox's Crying Wolf: Hate Crime Hoaxes in America: In recent years "anti-racists" have proclaimed that virtually every behavior and institution in our society is covertly racist. Anti-racism has become a small industry in the United States. Entire career fields are built around defining and combating "racism" in one form or another. As individual problems are solved and offensive behaviors disappear, the definition of racism is broadened again and again to include more and more behaviors, hence we have the problem of "increasing" bigotry and intolerance. I suspect the last thing many professional anti-racists want is a truly race-neutral society. They have developed a vested interest in the continuation of the problem, a kind of "co-dependency" relationship, if you will. It's no great surprise that a bright, socially-conscious individual would realize quite on his or her own that there's nothing like some racist graffiti or some other "hate crime" to invigorate the militants, and what the hell, it's for a good cause--right? Americans are not known for their ability to defer gratification for long, hence the racist or anti-Semitic hoax. It's as easy as apple pie. Consider a college campus boiling with racial and gender sensitivity, with courses in victimization, organizations for victims, a constant barrage of victim-victimization propaganda--but no immediate and palpable victims. "Anti-racist" vigilantes with no racists (or misogynists and homophobes) to hang had better get busy and make some, and as we see, they often do. What I see happening with hoaxes is a kind of "market" process: the frequency of hoaxes increases with their utility in accomplishing desired ends. When the "market" or payoff for victimization goes up, the temptation to create victimization where none exists is very strong and the temptation to exaggerate minor cases of alleged victimization is even stronger. Conversely, as the number of hoaxes increases (assuming they are reported) a greater skepticism toward unproven and marginal victimization claims will probably increase as well, and hoaxes will become less effective. It's pretty much a matter of supply and demand. In Crying Wolf, besides detailing particular cases, Laird Wilcox discusses aspects of a social environment that abets racial and anti-Semitic hoaxes. He is also author of The Watchdogs: A Close Look at Anti-racist 'Watchdog' Groups. See Editorial Research Service 2004 Issues & Views ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ www.texashatecrime.com/fake_...rue_stories.htmFeigned Facts and Hoaxes "Agencies must be alert to evidence left by the offenders that is meant to give the false impression that the incident was motivated by bias. However, even when a hoax is suspected, police must be especially careful not to announce this publicly. Bias crimes can attract intense community interest and sensational publicity. Stating that the incident may have been faked will often appear to be blaming the victim, leading to a setback in police-community relations. On the other hand, if a solid investigation proves no bias was involved, police should rely on the strength of that evidence to convince a judge, jury, and the general public." ----U.S. Justice Dept. training publication, pages 17-18 (.pdf file) __________________

"They call themslves "Patriots" and they met regularly in Ft. Collins until recently when their meeting place, Gabby's Restaurant, shut down. ...... Although they never had an official leader, Duncan Philp, a former Coast Guard member acted as moderator for the sessions. Philp is a CSU Poitical Science student, who denies being part of a militia and describes himself as a Libertarian." - (Triangle Review, vol. 22, num. 22 May 5, 1995, Front page)
Ummm just I don't see the words "Christian Identity" in this news story.
"Since Oklahoma City, we haven't heard much from the milita groups" said Bobbie Towbin of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in Denver. "They seem to have taken a very low profile." (Triangle Review, vol. 22, num. 22 May 5, 1995, Front page)
And we don't hear much from the ADL these days. They seem to have taken a very low profile after being exposed publicly for their lies in regards to Libertarian Jews being anti-semetic and that ten million dollar lawsuit they recently lost over invasion of privacy. Bobbie Towbin no longer works for the ADL due to the ten million dollar lawusit.

Now keep in mind the ADL and the SPLC work with copscum to destroy their political enemies and the ADL enemies include Libertarians, anarchist, Arab Americans, the NRA, the GOA, the TRT, the JPFO etc... . The ADL is the main source of info for copsters and they use the ADL as their justification for persecuting Patriots by spying on us an then place lies about us in their secret files. "Among those identified as a "militia leader" is Duncan Philp in Ft. Collins. He is reported as being a member of Pete Peter's Laporte Church of Christ . Pete Peters is a very dangerous person regarding minorities. Duncan is an active Libertarian in Colorado. He visited the church to do some Libertarian political organizing. This comes form the files of the ADL, which cliams, because Duncan went out to their church farm area, that he must be a member. Never mind the truth: that Duncan is a Seventh Day Adventist, and has been since 1988: that Pete Peters feels that all Adventist are being duped by a "Jewess woman" (Ellen White the SDA prophetess and one of the founders of the SDA church. Her maiden name was Harmon and Peters feels this surname is a Jewish name, even though her father was a Methodist.); and that Adventist incorrectly interpret the Scriptures such that they "are not even a real church". (The Firearms Sentinel, vol 1, issue 1 "Disarmed & Dangerous: United States Militia Report" by Samuel Sherwood. January, 1995, page 13. ) The Firearms Sentinel is a publication put out by the Jews for Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) of which I am a member. www.jpfo.org/Join today. The JPFO has little use for facist copsters becuase it was facist copsters who murdered the Jews in Germany. __________________

"Duncan Duwane Philip, purported head of the Ft. Collins patrito chapter. FBI intelligence says he's helping Schlosser and others put together a hand book on security issues and bylaws for the Colorado militia."
Denver Post January 22, 1995 page 10A, left hand side bar.
I've never met or worked with Schlosser in my life. I did talk to the guy once on the phone and learned that he was a tin foil militia guy.
I've never worked with anyone on any book and I've never written or produced any book. The FBI has yet to show me or anyone else this imagined book of theirs.
I've never worked with anyone on the forming of any kind of private militia here in Colorado, nor have I ever worked with anyone on writting of any bylaws for any militia anywhere. I never joined of formed any private militia of any kind. Under the Second Amendment I am already a member of "THE MILITIA" and not a memeber of "a militia" and as such there would be no reason for me form a militia. This is what is known as FBI disinformation, which is a tactic used by the KGB.

"Larimer County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Hollway closes the Laporte Church of Christ door Friday." - Sally Norman
"The state of Colorado seized and locked the LaPorte Chruch of Christ on Friday." - Sally Norman
"Looks like some thieves are in uniform wearing guns," said Dan Junker, who stood among a samll group watching the seizure." - Sally Norman 2/2/93
"Looks like we live in a police state added Duncan Philp." - Sally Norman Ft. Collins Coloradoan 2/2/93
If you defend free speech rights, even that of right wing whacko's like Pete Peters, then according to the ever incredible ADL you must hate Jews and you must of course be a member of this church. I was there when the County Gestapo seized this church and refused its members use of their own church.

"Dennis Cortese, proprieter of Debbie duz Donuts, was arrested Monday night after he allegedly harassed the narcotics officers to testify against him." - Tony Blandran
"Duncan Philp, chairman of Concerned Citizens on Police Matters said he attended the court proceedigns and saw some of the incident in the courthouse hall way. Concerned Citizens has complianed repeadtly about Sheriff Jim Black's management tactics." - Tony Blandaran Ft. Collins Coloradoan 5/15/90 front page news.
Debbie duz Donuts was a topless donut shop located on the NE corner of I-25 and Hwy 14 east of Ft. Collins. The donut shop made the big time when Geraldo came to do a show on the issues wurrounding the shop. Sheriff Jim Black had publicly stated that he would do anything in his power to shut the shop down. He would later do just that by use of an undercover Deputy named Pettit. Pettit posed as a drug dealer, who also wanted to conduct prostitution on the premisis of the donut shop. Pettit offered to sell drugs to Corteze and Dennis would take the biat. Pettit would place the drugs in a ice cooler located inside the donut shop for Dennis to pick up. This is called entrapment and it would cost the Sheriff his bid for re-election. Pettit later be forced to quit the department at the behest of the new sheriff.
The point of posting this is that no member of the LaPorte Church of Christ would support the free speech rights of a topless donut shop. Unlike any of the leftists with the ADL I am consistent on my position that free speech is an absolute.
